Dear Parents,
For information, we are receiving a visit by the mobile classroom of the Life Education Centre (LEC) on Monday 7th December.
LEC provides a progressive programme, which teaches children about the wonder of their bodies, how to take care of them, and how relationships, food, drink, drugs and other substances can affect them. The specially equipped mobile classroom provides an unforgettable experience for the children, which assists our school in our health education work. The focused, interactive, programmes are designed and varied to match each age group and ability and are presented by a specialist Educator.
Roe class will focus on how to look after their bodies ( the need for food, sleep and exercise as well as understanding the need for basic personal hygiene and how to take medicines responsibly).
Fallow class will explore and name different feelings and they will learn strategies for dealing with negative feelings.
Muntjac class will learn how the brain sends and receives signals through the nerves. They will also think about ways in which different substances can be harmful to the body.
Finally Sika class will work on decision making; in particular they will identify risk factors in a given situation and consider the outcomes of risk taking in this situation, including emotional risk. A community police officer will also give a small presentation
We are sure that the children will really enjoy this experience.
