Pupil Premium

Chilton Foliat Primary School receives a Pupil Premium Grant for each child who qualifies for one of the following three categories:

  • Free School Meals or has been entitled over the last five years
  • Looked After Children
  • Armed Forces Children

The grant is to help narrow the gap in performance and improve the quality of teaching and learning for vulnerable groups of children.

Wiltshire Council have a simple and confidential way of registering for free school meals via an online application process. You can go to www.wiltshire.gov.uk/freeschoolmeals to check if your children are eligible and to fill in the form. Forms are also available from the school office.

During the year 2011-2012 Chilton Foliat Primary School used their pupil premium in the following way:

  • Individual and very small group support was provided by an extra teacher during the school day as a booster programme
  • Extra curricular opportunities were made available through supporting payments to outside providers
  • Music tuition was supported at an individual level

We received £8,666 pupil premium in our 2012/13 budget and the Governing Body of the school decided that this grant was spent as follows:

  • Additional individual or small group tuition programmes for those children on FSM who need a boost to their learning in order to reach their potential, led by Teaching Assistants
  • Individual musical instrument tuition
  • Support for School trips and residential trips

The school received £15,600 money as a Pupil Premium grant and spent the money as follows:

  • Parent Support Advisors
  • Additional support for writing in the form of intervention programmes out of class
  • Supporting emotionally vulnerable children
  • Use of Abacus as a Maths tool
