Safeguarding
The safety and wellbeing of all the children at Chilton Foliat Primary School is of paramount importance and overrides all other considerations.
Procedures
Dependent on the household address, either Wiltshire or West Berkshire, each Local Authority instructs our Safeguarding Leads to report any obvious or suspected cases of child abuse. This includes non-accidental injury, severe physical neglect, emotional abuse and/or sexual abuse. These procedures are intended to protect children who are at risk.
Sometimes, when there are concerns about a child’s welfare, we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies. We will ensure that concerns about our pupils are discussed with parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.
We actively support the Government’s Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and terrorism.
We meet all statutory requirements and regularly monitor safeguarding provision. We expect all staff, volunteers, parents, carers and the wider school community to share our commitment to safeguarding our children. One of the ways we do this is by requiring a Disclosure and Barring Service certificate from anyone who works with children at our school (be it a paid or voluntary position).
