Year 4 Cricket Festival

On Friday 17th May, an enthusiastic group of 10 children from year four travelled to St Katharine’s Primary
School for our local small schools Cricket Tournament. Our children (many of whom for which this was their
first time playing the game!) performed admirably in the cold conditions and played out three very close
games in the morning against Baydon, St Katharine’s and Oare. Some powerful shots by Lily, Archie and
William meant we scored lots of runs while some very accurate bowling from Libby and Ewan ensured the
opposition could score few runs.
After lunch we had our best game yet with the children playing fantastically well and getting a deserved
victory over Easton Royal. The whole team should be very proud for we had both Oliver and Samuel hitting boundaries for fun, Fintan making magnificent catches and Pippa & Iris bowling straight and quick!
It was also lovely to see both Harvie and Thomas from year five take on such a great role as Sports Leaders where they had the tricky job of keeping score…well done!
It was a wonderful day out but many thanks go to Mrs Warren for coming with us on the coach and staying with us all day for without her giving up her time we would not have been able to participate!
