West Berkshire Post Code Admissions
For further information on how to apply for a reception year school place in an infant or primary school, or a year three place in a junior school please go to the West Berkshire Council Website.
Applying online is the best route to take, as you’ll get a receipt when you submit your application, and you’ll find out which school has been offered on the offer day instead of waiting for the post. The closing date for applications is 15 January. Please send a copy of your application to (Admin Officer) at Chilton Foliat so they can track your application for you.
In Year Admissions / Transfers
If you’re applying mid-way through a school year, there’s a separate process that needs to be followed.
From the 1 November 2023 until 31 August 2024 and in all subsequent years by 31 August at the latest each year, all in-year applications will be dealt with by Chilton Foliat Primary School Admissions Team.
Before a child is admitted to the school in any other year apart from Reception, a Primary School Admission Application Form for Transfers must be completed by the child’s parent or guardian.
Parents applying for a school place will need to complete an application form click here (and a supplementary information form where necessary), and return directly to the Admissions Team at Chilton Foliat Primary school. Parents will be notified of the outcome of their application within 2 school, days and details about the right to appeal, if applicable.
It is the responsibility of Chilton Foliat Primary School to inform West Berkshire Admissions Team of all in-year applications and the outcome within 2 days.

Transfer to Secondary School
Applications for a place at secondary school must be made through Wiltshire Council in the Autumn term of year 6. The deadline for secondary school admissions for September 2024 is by 12pm on 31 October 2023. Your child will bring home a form or you can apply online.
Transfer arrangements for our Year 6 pupils going to secondary school are sent to parents during the Spring Term prior to their children starting in September. These arrangements include visits made to the school by our Year 6 pupils and Parents Evenings when you can visit the school and meet the teachers who will be directly involved with your child/children.
