Date: Friday 6th Mar
Time: 12:00 am
World Book Day (or week) has got off to a great start with our second hand book sale, kindly organised by
Mrs Pinnegar and the School Council. We have already raised £65 and the sale will continue on Friday,
both during lunchtime and after school. We are grateful for the quality and quantity of second hand
books donated and with a sale price of between 30p and 50p, per book, the children will be guaranteed
a literary bargain.
We are all looking forward to dressing up for our World Book Day celebration on Friday and during the
day, staff and children will be invited to vote for their favourite book character costume. The winners, 1st
2nd and 3rd will be announced at Celebration Assembly. The photographer from Newbury Weekly News is
bringing his camera into school at 1.30pm, which will be a lovely way to advertise how the children are
inspired, by a range of exciting book characters, to want to read more and write more stories too.
We mustn’t forget the Book Fair coming to school from next Wednesday 11th March. Mrs Pinnegar will
open for business on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday after school, so do come along and have a look at
a great selection of books which will be available for sale.
To support our World Book Day celebrations, another Mrs Pinnegar (our Mrs Pinnegar’s Mother-in-Law) has
knitted a selection of Easter animals which are also on sale alongside our books. We are hugely grateful to
Mrs Pinnegar, for her incredibly generous donation to the school, particularly as all monies raised will go
towards the purchase of high quality texts for the children to read and enjoy.
